UK sets record for life without coal

The UK's renewable energy expansion and emissions policy have practically slashed coal out of the country's energy mix, which has been running completely free of the fossil energy source since May 1 – the longest period since the Industrial Revolution. The National Grid expects to operate a zero-carbon system by 2025.
