Hitachi drops plans for UK nuclear power plant

The UK has seen almost 7 gigawatts of nuclear capacity mothballed in the last few months, now that the Japanese conglomerate suspends planned construction of Wylfra Newydd and instead swallows an impairment of EUR 2.4 billion.

Following Hitachi's decision to suspend the development of Wylfra, Hinkley Point C is only remaining nuclear plant currently under construction.
