Investments in offshore wind boomed last year

Although only half as much offshore wind was connected to the European grid during 2016 as in 2015, the future still looks bright. However, industry association WindEurope cautions against inertia in Denmark and other countries.

MEPs hesitate on free electricity market in Europe

Today, the EU Parliament's energy committee will vote on its negotiation position regarding several pieces of important energy legislation. But similar to member nations, the MEPs are struggling to agree on whether to let power flow freely in all of Europe in a full-on inner energy market.

German wind prices rise by one fifth

After dramatic price decreases and major criticism of German onshore wind auctions, the average price saw a significant boost in the first auction since the provisional tightening of the rules for citizen projects. Solar power is thus cheaper than wind.
