Construction of Nord Stream 2 has begun

Despite disagreement in the EU as to whether a gas pipeline between Russia and Germany is a good idea, Germany has taken the first step toward constructing the hotly-debated project.

Construction began yesterday on the foundation of the gas terminal that will receive 55 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia via the Nord Stream pipeline. The terminal is located in the German town Lubmin on the Baltic coast, according to the EU media EUobserver.
