New EU buildings directive aims to promote renewables

When the EU Committee on Industry, Research and Energy votes on the Energy Performance and Buildings Directive this Wednesday, the decision is poised to increase the use of renewable energy in several areas.


In the future it might become mandatory for EU member states to take into account whether energy stems from fossils or renewable sources when calculating energy consumption in new and existing buildings, according to a proposal by the EU Parliament.
