SSE customers slowly disappearing from rough UK market

The battle for customers is ruthless on the UK energy market, indicates the quarterly update from utility SSE.

230,000 electricity customers chose to part ways with the British energy giant SSE during this year's first quarter, writes the company in a recently issued trading statement for the quarter.

This brings SSE "down" to servicing just 7.7 million customers, which is a large number even by UK standards. But the loss of 230,000 customers still hurts the company, even though SSE takes the opportunity to highlight the importance of competition on the market.
