Statkraft bets on Dutch solar and continues departure from offshore wind

The Norwegian energy company has until now been best known for hydro and wind power, but solar could play a bigger part for the company going forward.

Norway is not known for being a sunny vacation destination, nor is the sun notably present in the second quarter interim report from Norway's Statkraft released today.

But this will change going forward. Statkraft may not be able to control whether Norway is an altogether sunny country, yet the company does have plans to put more solar power in the company's portfolio. Statkraft is currently constructing the largest solar panel farm in the Netherlands, Rundedal, of 14 MW.
