Ørsted signs another PPA for German offshore wind offtake

The Danish power company has signed a PPA with German chemical group BASF for 184MW of forthcoming offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3.

At some point in 2025, turbines are supposed to be spinning at Ørsted's Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm in German waters, and now the Danish utility announces that BASF has signed on to buy a portion of the facility's output.

The two companies have entered a 25-year power purchase agreement for the offtake of 186MW, thereby marking the longest duration PPA signed for wind at sea, Ørsted informs in a media release.
