On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Spain initiated an investigation into Iberdrola Chief Executive Ignacio Galan as a part of spying case spanning 2004-2017. At the behest of anti-corruption prosecutors, the court will probe the CEO's role in paying former police chief José Manuel Villarejo to spy on behalf of the power company, several media including El Pais are reporting.
The three other executives are also under investigation in a big case entailing bribery, privacy violation and document forgery – a case the Spanish media reports also involves several other leading business profiles in Spain such as Repsol Chair Antonio Brufau Niubó.
