Northern German nuclear plants set domestic malfunction record

The German state Schleswig-Holstein was the unfortunate holder of the record for most incidents at nuclear power plants in 2018.

18 malfunctions were reported on nuclear facilities in the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in 2018, a year in which the number of incident reports was the highest ever in Germany, writes Danish newspaper Jydske Vestkysten.

In the state of Schleswig-Holstein, nuclear power plant Brokdorf had ten so-called mandatory-reporting malfunctions in 2018, while neighboring plant Brunsbüttel had eight. Thereby, the two plants in Schleswig-Holstein top the list of reporting-required incidents among all reactors across Germany. Last year, there were a total of 78 filed reports in the federal republic.
