Vattenfall to dismiss 1,500 employees in streamlining effort

The Swedish utility plans to reduce costs by SEK 2 billion and will therefore dismiss up to 1,500 employees.

Last year, Vattenfall announced its streamlining program "Golf," focused on slashing costs by SEK 2 billion (EUR 198 million). Now, the Swedish company is ready for the next phase of the plan, announces Vattenfall in a press release.

While earlier speculations in Swedish media predicted dismissals of approximately 2,000 employees, there will initially be fewer. As part of its goal to cut costs by SEK 2 billion in 2020, Vattenfall has opted to reduce the number of employees by 1,500.
