RWE boosted earnings in 2017

In the wake of the announcement that RWE is selling Innogy, the German firm has now released a 2017 report showing a return to profits.

After two years of deficits, RWE turned things around and booked a profit in 2017, even though revenue slightly declined to EUR 44.5 billion down from EUR 45.8 billion.

The company has launched a strategy to lower base costs by EUR 300 million annually from 2016 to 2019. According to RWE CEO, Dr. Rolf Martin Schmitz, the company has come more than half way in this endeavor.
