ABB will be main sponsor for Formula E

The electric version of Formula 1 racing has now been joined by ABB as main sponsor. The company has also been named a technological partner to help "push the boundaries of e-mobility."

ABB has entered a partnership with Formula E, which has established itself as the world's first all-electric international motor sport. ABB will now be a main sponsor and technology partner, which means that the series will be known as "ABB FIA Formula E Championship".

In a press release, ABB is highlighted for its knowledge in electrification and leadership in electric vehicle charging solutions and therefore a natural match for Formula E, which will be a type of competitive platform for the development and testing of "e-mobility-relevant electrification and digitalization technologies" to help improve the design and functionality of electric vehicles and infrastructure as well as the associated digital platforms. The goal is that ABB and Formula E will join forces "to push the boundaries of e-mobility".
