Vattenfall launches division to operate UK electricity networks

The Swedish utility has established a new division to own and operate electricity networks in the UK.

Vattenfall has decided to expand activities in the UK, and the company has therefore established a new unit for ownership and operations of electricity networks.

The new unit is named Vattenfall Networks Ltd., and it is expected that activities will be launched in 2018. Vattenfall Networks was granted its operating license on Nov. 1 by the British Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem). This marks the company's first step toward its target for establishing activities within intelligent, independent electricity distribution networks in the UK.
