First floating wind turbine installed in France

France has installed its first floating wind turbine. The industry wants politicians to roll out the largest floating wind tender ever next year.

The Atlantic Sea's first floating wind turbine has been installed.

After two years of preparation, the consortium behind the Floatgen project sent a Vestas V80-2 MW turbine off the coast of the French city of Saint-Nazaire, where the viability of the  technology will be tested over the next two years, reports French wind association France Energie Eolienne (FEE).
