Siemens Gamesa has inaugurated its blade plant in Moroccan city Tangier. The 37,500 square meter factory, which involved an investment of around EUR 100 million, is the turbine maker's first plant in Africa and the Middle East and will produce blades with lengths of up to 75 meters.
However, to begin with, 63-meter blades will be manufactured for the Siemens turbine platform SWT-DD-130. Beyond the local market, these blades will be exported to the EMEA region, which includes Europe as well.
