Ikea owns more wind turbines than furniture warehouses

Ikea warehouses have popped up all over the world, but it is actually more probable that you might run into an Ikea turbine. At least in theory.

There are a total of 355 Ikea warehouses in 29 different countries. But the many stores cannot keep up with Ikea's wind turbines. The Swedish furniture brand currently owns 415 wind turbines spread across mainly Europe and North America.

"This means Ikea Group now owns more wind turbines than stores and is getting closer to its target to become energy independent by producing as much renewable energy as consumed through operations, by 2020," says Ikea, according to energy media Edie in a market update.
