Siemens Gamesa lands repowering order in the US

The largest wind turbine owner in the US wants to expand the life and blade length of its two farms in Texas.

Siemens Gamesa has secured a repowering project in the US, announces the company.

The manufacturer's own turbines will be upgraded at two farms, where machines of the type SWT-2.3-93 will be transformed to SWT-2.3-108 turbines, and they will then yield upwards of 25 percent more electricity. The order was placed last quarter and the job is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The farm will remain operational during the repowering.
