Dong is heading toward a future with overflowing cash and will stop divesting

Before long, Dong could make so much money operating offshore wind farms that there will no longer be a need for billion-dollar divestments to invest in new offshore wind projects. With the overflowing funds, Dong might look to invest beyond offshore wind and biomass in a few years.

Good fortune seems to be smiling upon Dong Energy's offshore wind farms, with positive results once again adorning a financial report from Denmark's largest energy company. Meanwhile, this Thursday's Q2 report also represents a clear indication of change ahead.

For years, Dong has aggressively hunted for growth opportunities within its offshore wind portfolio. So far, the growth has been partly financed with money from divested stakes in existing offshore wind farms, but now this model seems to be nearing its end.
