UK green-lights planning for 1.2 GW offshore project

ScottishPower Renewables has approved the continued planning of a 1.2 GW wind farm off the coast of eastern England.

Another huge offshore wind farm is underway in the UK and ScottishPower Renewables has been granted permission to start planning the 1.2 GW project East Anglia 3, according to a press release from the company.

The developer, which is owned by Spain's Iberdrola, one of the world's largest utilities, explains that the approval from the British Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Greg Clark, will allow for the installation of next-generation turbines with heights up to 247 meters from ocean surface to blade tip.
