Diamond Transmission Partners (DTP) is poised to take over the transmission cables for Dong Energy's offshore wind farm Burbo Bank Extension. After being on offer for a year, the UK's Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) has selected the consortium, which consists of Mitsubishi and UK investment company HICL, as the preferred bidder to own and operate the cables for the next 20 years. DTP was selected from a gross list of five consortiums.
"Tender Round 4 saw the lowest bids to date as a proportion of the asset value. This further demonstrates the value of continuing to use competitive tendering to provide the best value for consumers," writes the regulator.
