Siemens Gamesa takes on Tenerife

The wind turbine manufacturer has received its first order from a new customer to install 200 MW of wind.

Siemens Gamesa has booked a 21.1 MW order for two wind farms on the Canary Islands – 12.6 MW for the farm Bermejo and 10.5 MW for the farm Vera de Abote.

Altogether, 11 of Gamesa's G114-2.1M will be installed on the farms which are both located in the city of Arico on the main island of Tenerife. Both concern turnkey orders, where the initial work began in May and the delivery of the turbines is expected to begin at the end of the year. The farms are expected to be operational in the second half of 2017 and will receive subsidies before the end of the year.
