French energy player EDF has long been involved in the UK energy sector, for example controversial power plant Hinkley Point C. But the French company has also long been engaged in the wind industry, where the company's oldest UK wind farm dates back to 1993 while a further 29 farms are currently in operation. Now, EDF will increase that number by about a third.
A press release reveals that the energy company has bought 11 wind farm areas from developer Partnerships for Renewables. Here, the plans for three projects with total capacity of 100 MW have already been approved, while another project is in the process of applying for approval and the remaining seven are under development. Altogether there is potential to construct 600 MW.
