Warren Buffett company applies to install 1 GW

One of the billionaire's companies is going one step further with its USD 3.5 billion project which involves the repowering of 635 MW existing turbines.

Energy company Rocky Mountain Power, owned by US magnate Warren Buffett, has applied for permission from the state of Wyoming to install wind turbines of 1.1 GW, reveals the company in a press release. The new wind is one of three elements in an investment plan of USD 3.5 billion which also includes the installation of a 225 km long 500 kv transmission line and the repowering of the company's existing portfolio of wind turbines.

"We are very excited to begin the stakeholder review process for these projects that will significantly increase the renewable energy that serves all our customers," says Rocky Mountain Power CEO Cindy A. Crane.
