Offshore wind capacity will grow five-fold by 2025

The capacity of offshore wind will grow from 14.7 GW to 71 GW, according to calculations in a new report.

Installed offshore wind power capacity will have increased to 71 GW, which would be a fivefold increase from the 14.7 GW installed globally at the end of this June, according to calculations in a report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).

The report attributes the growth estimate to declining prices for wind power as a result of using larger and more effective wind turbines.
