Shell will shake off competition with 10 GW projects

The oil company wants to drive down offshore wind prices by building fewer but huge projects on a market, which the Shell executive says will need more financial muscle than the current players can offer.

Shell is ready to take on a key role in offshore wind. With last year's victory in the Borssele 3 + 4 Dutch tender, the oil company returned to the industry as consortium leader, which it left after installing the Netherlands' first wind farm in 2008. Although it has returned to a completely different industry landscape, Shell will take on further development by changing the rules once more.
