Germany will let wind and solar battle it out in new tender

After dramatic price declines the German government is giving solar panels and onshore wind turbines the opportunity to battle it out in three rounds for a total 1.2 GW.

Wind and solar players should start bracing themselves for a duel on German territory.

Germany's government has announced that over next year and the two following years, the country will launch annual tenders of 400 MW, where onshore wind and solar panels can bid. In other words, a tender in technology-neutral power sources for a total of 1.2 GW.
