NKT has built up serious muscle in the fight for the cable market. After finalizing the takeover of the high-voltage division from Swedish/Swiss ABB, the cable maker inaugurated the brand new cable-laying vessel Victoria this past month introducing a Direct Current (DC) cable of 640 kV. The ship has tonnage of 11,500, and NKT now seems to have grown into the role of industry major.
"That was the whole point" says CEO Michael Hedegaard Lyng.
