Canadian Alterra Power buys large-scale US wind project

Boswell Springs could become a heavy-weight wind farm of 320 MW.

Vancouver-based Alterra Power, which is a major customer of Denmark's Vestas, has now purchased a large development project named Boswell Spring. This project contains the possibility of constructing wind power capacity of 320 MW in US state Wyoming, according to a press release from the company.

Alterra Power expects that the project will qualify for the full tax discount under the US PTC scheme, and that the project will begin commercial operations in 2020. The electricity will be supplied to Rocky Mountain Power, a division under PacificCorp, in a 20-year electricity power purchase agreeement.
