At 10PM (CET) Sunday evening, Vestas clocked a milestone on the south-eastern shore of Kenya's largest lake, Lake Turkana. With the installation of turbine number 365, the wind turbine manufacturer completed the construction phase of Africa's largest wind farm, which with its 310 MW capacity can deliver 15 percent of the East African country's electricity consumption. Within both budget and time frame, it was gleefully announced.
"With this we prove that when we decide to deliver a project – irrespective of where in the world – we can do it within the limits and specifications we put up. In every sense we are highly satisfied," says senior vice president for communications at Vestas, Morten Dyrholm.
