EU invests in energy storage project

A research project aimed at finding a storage method for renewable energy will receive financial backing from the EU.

A three-year research project has received EUR 2.5 million from the EU's Horizon 2020 initiative, reports Renews.  The project aims to further develop a technology known as ReSoc to enable flexible storage of renewable energy.

ReSoc is an electrochemical conversion technology which uses electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen gas by a high temperature electrolysis process, which can then be operated in reverse to produce energy from the hydrogen gas produced.
