US turbine owners to be in charge of own maintenance

Several US companies have begun to take on the maintenance of their own wind turbines. This could save them upwards of USD 18,000 per turbine annually.

Maintenance companies in Europe could be facing bad news from across the Atlantic, as several major US wind turbine owners have begun to take over the maintenance of their own wind turbines, reports Recharge.

"During 2016 we made the decision to invest in a self-perform model for our operations and maintenance," says Pattern Energy CEO Mike Garland to the media.
