Siemens drops out of top five wind turbine manufacturers

Vestas reclaims the lead among offshore wind turbine manufacturers and is far ahead of the pack, according to a new estimation.

The largest wind turbine manufacturer last year was Vestas, according to a new estimation from FTI Consulting.

The data is preliminary but the consultancy firm's CEO, Feng Zhao, does not doubt that Vestas was in the lead. While the global market was 14 percent lower in 2016 than the record 63 GW from the previous year, the Danish turbine manufacturer still had a record year with the delivery of wind turbines totaling 9,654 MW.
