Germany, Norway, and France win home Europe for Vestas

Were it not for Germany – and partly Norway and France - the European market would be something of a dull affair for Vestas.

Germany's appetite for wind – both in the form of new onshore wind turbines and the reconstruction of old farms – is a major contributor to Vestas' strong European sales record in 2016.

Vestas delivered 1,119 MW to Germany in 2016, and the country took the title as Vestas' largest European customer for 2016, measured by delivered turbines. In its annual report, Vestas wrote that Germany will also be a key market in 2017, even if the Germans transfer from feed-in tariffs to an auction system for subsidies for new turbines.
