First US offshore wind farm is fully operational again

The first repair on the country's first offshore wind farm is now complete after a month of downtime.

All five turbines in Block Island are operational again. One month ago, it was discovered that a drill had been forgotten in a GE turbine and had damaged several magnets in the generator. However, after new magnets were shipped in from France and the repair work was ongoing for several weeks, the error has now been corrected, says Deepwater Wind, which owns the farm.

"Testing confirmed that the repair was successful and the turbine is now running normally," says CEO of Deepwater Wind, Jeffrey Grybowski, in a statement.
