New major order on UK offshore wind farm

Italy's Prysmian will transport the electricity to land from the coming Siemens offshore wind farm in the UK.

Offshore wind project East Anglia One has now hired an Italian supplier. Cable manufacturer Prysmian has been given the job of supplying the land cable connections for the electricity from the coming 714 MW Siemens farm, which is expected operational in 2020. This job will be done with a 220 kilovolt underground cable of approximately 37 kilometers and worth GBP 27 million (EUR 31.36 million), informs Prysmian.

"This is a highly significant project for Prysmian and it demonstrates again the breadth of our expertise, both in the manufacture of high voltage cable and in the technical expertise required by the design and installation. We are delighted to be involved in a world-leading project of this significance for the UK renewable energy sector," says Llyr Roberts, Prysmian UK CEO, in the statement.
