Danish wind developer adds 215 MW to portfolio

Danish wind developer Momentum Gruppen is increasing its volumes with the acquisition of two wind turbine managers. Growth is necessary for survival in a market under increasing pressure, says the CEO while announcing the launch of a large fund.

Danish Momentum Gruppen is significantly developing its business. The service company operates within development, procurement and the management of solar and wind projects, and has now taken over the two companies IWE and Wickmann Wind, thereby acquiring the management of about 215 MW in projects located in the UK, Germany, and Sweden. A necessary development, says the company's CEO Kim Madsen.

"Volume is the essential part of this purchase, because we're experiencing a clear shift towards increasingly large entities. Things are being combined and large players are acquiring smaller players to benefit from the synergies. A small-scale player doesn't stand a chance anymore," he says, although mentioning one reservation.
