Danish wind lobbyist new head of Europe's electricity organization

Kristian Ruby, chief policy officer of Europe's wind energy association and former advisor to the European Commissioner for Climate Action, will now lead Europe's electricity sector. There are huge possibilities within electrification, he says.

From January, Kristian Ruby is taking over the post of Secretary General in Eurelectric, Europe's Union of the Electricity Industry. The 40-year-old Dane is leaving his current role as chief policy officer with the European wind turbine organization Windeurope (previously EWEA) and replacing the previous Secretary General Hans ten Berge, a Dutchman who has held the post for the last ten years.

"The electricity sector is the focal point of the green transition. There are enormous opportunities in the electrification of the economy, which in addition to boosting growth and opportunity in Europe also helps the climate and environment," says Ruby of his future position.
