The price on Kriegers Flak is decades ahead of its time

Expenses related to offshore wind farms are sliding much faster than expected. The price for the new Kriegers Flak farm was not expected to arise for several decades yet, according to the International Energy Agency based on calculations from the Danish Energy Association.

Jaws dropped when the winning price in the tender for Danish offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak was announced.

With a guaranteed support price of just DKK 0.372 (EUR 0.049) per kWh, Sweden's Vattenfall broke a world record in cheap offshore wind. The record was taken from formerly cheapest Dong Energy, which as recently as this summer won a Dutch tender with a price of just DKK 0.54 per kWh.
