EDF Renewables plans 1GW floating wind in Celtic Sea

EDF Renewables has launched a joint venture with DP Energy to develop a 1GW floating wind farm in the Celtic Sea.

Floating wind is becoming increasingly popular as more and more countries need renewable energy sources in areas where bottom-fixed installations are impractical.

French utility EDF is one among several companies looking to establish a considerable portion of floating wind. As a part of achieving as much, power company is planing to establish 1GW of floating wind in the Celtic Sea by taking part in a joint venture with DP Energy, the companies announce in a press release.
