Siemens Gamesa to spend near quarter billion dollars on US plant

As the first offshore wind turbine manufacturer to do so, Siemens Gamesa establishes production in the US with the announcement of a blade factory in Virginia – although it's not quite a blade plant as such, and the FID is not yet taken.

Good news can almost not be told too often.

Early last year, a representative from Siemens Gamesa said in a Virginia Senate hearing that the OEM was considering to build a wind turbine blade factory in the US state. Later, in the company's February interim report, Chief Executive Andreas Nauen noted that the plant would manifest if and when Dominion Energy placed a firm and unconditional order for its offshore project of roughly 2.6GW.
