World's largest floating wind farm operational

Kincardine in Scotland is now operational, and its developers highlight the 9.5MW turbines as proof that floating wind is becoming a mature technology.

The first electricity is now being generated by the world's largest floating wind farm, Kincardine in Scotland.

At a time when major renewable energy projects are becoming so large as to be measured in gigawatts, the floating farm lying 15 kilometers off Aberdeenshire counts a more modest 50MW and consists of five V164-9.5MW units and one V80-2MW.
