Shanghai Electric launches new offshore wind turbine

The Chinese turbine maker presents a new offshore model reportedly set to beat the record for Asia's largest.

Shanghai Electric has launched its newest offshore wind turbine, which, with a capacity of 11MW, will reportedly be the largest one of its kind in Asia.

The platform has been dubbed Petrel, with the turbine itself named SEW 11.0-208. It comes equipped with the wind turbine manufacturer's direct drive, to which Shanghai Electric has full intellectual property rights, as emphasized in a statement.
