SSE Renewables enters Japanese offshore wind market

The British utility has struck an agreement with Pacifico Energy, one of Japan's largest renewable energy developers, to establish offshore wind projects in the country.

UK-based utility SSE Renewables and Japanese renewable energy developer Pacifico Energy have agreed to set up a jointly owned company to develop offshore wind projects in Japan, the former writes in a press release.

In founding the new company, SSE Renewables will take over 80 percent of an offshore wind development platform from Pacifico Energy. At the same time, 20 Pacifico Energy staff will transfer to the new firm, as will a number of employees from SSE Renewables.
