Ørsted signs third PPA on unsubsidized offshore farm

With its third PPA signed for forthcoming offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3's offtake, the Danish utility has now settled purchase agreements for half the unsubsidized facility's output.

As the saying goes, it's best to not count your chickens before they've hatched. Electricity, however, can be sold before taking a final invest decision to install an offshore wind farm.

Ørsted makes as much clear with the signing of a ten-year power purchase agreement with Rewe Group, the company behind the German supermarket of the same name. The latter has signed a PPA to buy offtake of 100MW from forthcoming offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3, for which a FID has not yet been made.
