Scatec wins millions supporting hydro-solar plant

The Norwegian solar company will work with several partners to develop the world's first combined hydroelectric and photovoltaic facility.

Aiming to develop the world's first hybrid solar-hydroelectric power station, Norway's Scatec has now been awarded NOK 77m (EUR 7.5m) from domestic fund The Green Platform Initiative.

The hybrid plant will deploy floating photovoltaic panels, presumably laid upon the surface of a hydroelectric reservoir, and feature an attached battery system. While specifically naming hydroelectric technology in the media release, further details on this aspect of the hybrid setup are undisclosed.
