Enel commissions South America's biggest wind farm

The Italian utility commissions its 716-MW Lagoa dos Ventos onshore wind farm in Brazil and invests an additional sum in expanding the facility to beyond 1 GW.

South America's hitherto largest onshore wind farm, Lagoa dos Ventos of 716 MW, has now entered commercial operation.

Italian power company Enel's Brazilian subsidiary, EGPB, which won the initial capacity allocation in a 2017 public tender, officially commissioned the facility Thursday, the utility informs in a press statement.
