Vestas flunks out of US top three

Although installed capacity on the US market hit a record high in the first quarter, both turbines and market share were small for Vestas, with an outsider taking second place.

In the first three months of the year, the US saw installation of 2,561 MW in wind energy. An entire 40 percent more than in the same period of the otherwise record year 2020, and almost three times as much as installed in early 2019. In other words, more than in any other first quarter on the US market.

"These numbers add up to one word: momentum," states the CEO of sector organization American Clean Power (ACP), Heather Zichal.
