Ørsted strengthens political clout in US

Rhode Island governor's former chief of staff is hired to help the Danish utility bolster its market strategy in New England as BOEM takes two further steps toward the construction phase of Ørsted's offshore wind farms, while the decision on the third is postponed.

Under the governorship of Gina Raimondo, Rhode Island developed into something of pioneer in US offshore wind. The tiny state hosted the country's first pilot project, Block Island, installed in 2016.

In the company of its somewhat larger neighbor, Massachusetts, Rhode Island was also first in line to dish out one of the nation's first large-scale projects with the allocation of 400 MW to Revolution Wind in 2018.
