Vineyard Wind drops MHI Vestas – shifts to GE

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid nominate the US-based OEM's Haliade X wind turbines, setting their construction plans on hold.

GE continues its upswing in the US offshore wind market, now with its Haliade X turbine winning a preferred supplier deal from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid's joint venture project, Vineyard Wind.

"The selection of GE as our preferred turbine supplier means that a historic American company will play a vital role in the development of the first commercial scale offshore wind power in the US," writes Vineyard Wind Chief Executive Lars Thanning Pedersen in a press statement and continues:
